The BBC reported that scientists have found evidence of Japanese whale meat being sold and eaten in U.S. and Korean restaurants. Japan is exempt from an international agreement to prohibit whaling because of Japanese scientific research, and the whale meat is sold to the public.

An elderly elk had to be euthanized by The Woodland Park Zoo, The Seattle Times reported, because he was suffering from several age-related illnesses, including limited mobility, joint discomfort and poor eyesight.

Raves:

According to The Seattle Times, the local Bumbershoot concert event will offer a “Bumbershoot Lite” ticket option in addition to standard tickets. The economical pass allows ticket holders to view all shows except those on the main stage.

Reuters reported a new brand of men’s compression wear from Equmen, an Australia-based company, which promises health benefits in addition to shape sculpting. The underwear is said to improve circulation and posture, and a women’s line called Equfem is in the works.
