Reporter

Reporters are an integral aspect of The Daily community. Daily reporters highly value and practice journalistic objectivity as a means to represent the student voice at the University of Washington. The Daily is a very competitive workplace; we strive to train and hire skilled, passionate and creative writers. The newsroom is also a learning environment. Toward the end of each quarter, the development editor calls for interested applicants to apply for Daily 101 through a competitive application process. Daily 101 is a ten-week trial program that guides new writers toward becoming competent journalists through weekly meetings and one-on-one edits. The program is fast-paced and requires accepted applicants to be self-motivated about succeeding at the paper. Journalism experience in not required, but enthusiasm is a must.
