Battle royale

1. At the tender age of 28, former Husky Tim Lincecum has now won two Cy Young awards and two World Series titles. Has any UW star gone on to greater professional success?

Kevin: Well, Nate Robinson won three dunk contests. That’s pretty similar to a Cy Young, right?

Thuc Nhi: Initially Hope Solo comes to mind as a contender, but she did finish fourth on “Dancing with the Stars,” so Big Time Timmy Jim wins this round by a landslide.

Jacob: The only one who comes to mind is pole vaulter Brad Walker, who won the gold in both the indoor and outdoor world championships.

Walker: I have to go with U.S. National Women’s Soccer goaltender Hope Solo here. Two Olympic gold medals and a silver in the 2011 FIFA World Cup give her the edge.

2. Did Oklahoma City make the right move in trading James Harden? Did Harden make the right move in declining the Thunder’s extension offer?

Kevin: I’m much, much more concerned with how Harden’s glorious beard will deal with the Houston humidity.

Thuc Nhi: Anything that hurts the Thunder is the right move in my book.

Jacob: Yes and a resounding yes. OKC made their team better in the long haul, and Harden got his max value following his rookie contract.

Walker: In short, no. There just aren’t enough players of Harden’s caliber in the NBA to ever justify giving up a star for the overrated Kevin Martin and the unproven Jeremy Lamb. It’s a good move for Harden though.

3. What will be the biggest factor in determining if the UW can finish its regular season with four more wins?

Kevin: Whether the defense can play on the road like it has at home. If the Huskies can keep holding teams under 20 points, they can handle the rest of the schedule.

Thuc Nhi: Whether the offense can get its mojo working on a consistent basis. And yes, this is a recording.

Jacob: Their ability to win on the road. They’ve got the talent to beat Cal in Berkeley; whether or not they do depends if they can get the road monkey off their backs.

Walker: If the offensive line can give Keith Price time to hang around in the pocket, he should find his rhythm and dice up the remaining opponents on the UW schedule.

4. What’s the best sports-related Halloween costume you’ve seen this year?

Kevin: A replacement referee. Just wear the zebra stripes and mess things up everywhere you go.

Thuc Nhi: McKayla Maroney may not be impressed by many things, but she should be impressed with Alex Morgan’s interpretation of the Olympic gymnast. She gets a perfect 10 from me.

Jacob: An Oregon football player with a BCS Championship ring. Terrifying.

Walker: An old school CCCP Soviet Union hockey jersey complete with a Russian fur cap.
