Break-in at UW fraternity leaves two hospitalized, seven arrested

Two men were hospitalized and seven were arrested last night after a fight in a UW fraternity house on 45th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 19th Street.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) blotter said suspects forced their way into the side door of the Delta Upsilon fraternity house at about 9:30 p.m., armed with brass knuckles, pepper spray, and a fire extinguisher.

Once inside, the SPD said multiple fights broke out on different floors of the house. During the brawl, three residents of the house were cut by thrown bottles and three more were hit with pepper spray.

The leader of the suspects’ group allegedly had a dispute with several fraternity residents, which may have led to the break-in.

When police arrived, they located seven suspects near the house. The seven were arrested and taken to King County Jail for investigation of burglary and aggravated assault.

Delta Upsilon declined The Daily’s request to comment. The SPD is handling the investigation.
