Sept. 2007 - Amanda Knox arrives in Italy.

Nov. 1, 2007 – Meredith Kercher found dead in Perugia, Italy.

Nov. 5, 2007 – Knox and then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito are brought in for questioning.

Nov. 6, 2007 – Both Knox and Sollecito are jailed on suspicion of murder.

Oct. 28, 2008 – Knox formally charged with murder. Rudy Guede sentenced to 30 years in jail for Kercher’s murder

Jan. 16, 2009 – Knox’s trial begins.

Dec. 4, 2009 – Knox and Sollecito are found guilty and convicted to 26 and 25 years in prison, respectively.

Nov. 24, 2010 – Appeal process for Knox and Sollecito begins.

Dec. 18, 2010 – Italian court announces re-examination of DNA evidence.

Feb. 15, 2011 – Knox’s parents, Edda Mellas and Curt Knox, indicted for libel in Perugia.

June 29, 2011 – Forensic experts testify that DNA evidence found on the supposed murder weapon used to convict Knox is unreliable.

Oct. 3, 2011 – Knox and Sollecito acquitted and released from prison.
