The newly formed Student Health Consortium (SHC) will be a valuable resource for promoting the many health-related events happening on campus starting this fall.
Through the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW), the SHC will act as an umbrella organization that informs students about upcoming events and services. Proposed earlier this year by Peer Health Educator and UW senior Nels Carroll, the SHC is comprised of registered student organizations that focus on issues related to health and wellness.
The SHC "is a community forum so groups [can] collaborate and increase publicity and participation" in their events, Carroll said.
The consortium will provide volunteer opportunities for the large number of pre-health majors on campus, including a part-time student director and committee positions open to any ASUW member, regardless of major.
