Battle Royale

1. Now that Manny Ramirez’s steroid cover has been blown, who will be the next high-profile athlete to test positive?

Christian: John Clayton.

Maks: Tayshaun Prince will be the next to have his cover blown — in a book written by Reggie Miller. Isn’t it plausible that both of them could be using the same kind of drugs as Manny?

Allen: Willie Bloomquist.

Taylor: Steroid use is becoming regular news now, which is completely unhealthy for baseball. I don’t really care too much, as long as it’s not Ken Griffey Jr. That would be just as devastating as it was to hear A-Rod’s confession. Junior is the only pure home-run leader in the game today.

2. Was the NBA justified in suspending Derek Fisher for Game 3 of the Lakers-Rockets series?

Christian: Probably. He hit him pretty hard. But if he had hit Yao Ming like that, he’d probably be suspended for the entire season.

Maks: Yep, sorry Lakers bandwagonners. Fisher saw Luis Scola coming to set the screen out of the corner of his eye, despite what he said after the game. He then braced himself and leaned in to the oncoming Scola with his elbow/shoulder. For once, Scola didn’t flop.

Allen: Oh, yeah. You can’t just make contact with a 6-foot-9-inch, 245-pound guy and expect to get away with it because, you know, it might really hurt him and stuff.

Taylor: Of course. Fisher saw Luis Scola out of the corner of his eye and completely leveled him to the floor. Then he proceeded to wipe his head for no apparent reason. And then, Sasha Vujacic confronted Scola as viewers were granted a special view of quite possibly the two nastiest hairstyles in the NBA. Gross.

3. Carlos Silva: Thoughts?

Christian: Sigh.

Maks: Any thoughts I want? He lost something like 30 pounds this offseason but still has a large belly. I can’t stomach him anymore. Sorry. That was terrible.

Allen: He sucks.

Taylor: I was optimistic in the beginning, but it doesn’t look too good now. Goodbye, Mariners. Hello, Rainiers.

4. Do you want to see LeBron against Kobe in the NBA finals?

Christian: I don’t want to see the NBA finals, but I do kind of like LeBron, so sure, why not?

Maks: Not really. The Rockets are the only team that could pose problems for the Cavaliers. Derek Fisher checking Mo Williams? Not ideal. Trevor Ariza on LeBron? Yikes. Andrew Bynum resisting the urge to strangle Anderson Verajao? I’m not convinced.

Allen: Yes, preferably, especially if the two teams playing are Cleveland and Los Angeles.

Taylor: As much as I despise the Lakers, yes. But only to see LeBron dunk on Kobe, Pau Gasol, Sasha Vujacic and Trevor Ariza all at once. Oh yeah, and win a championship for the Cavs while he’s at it.
