1. As spring training comes to a close, how sure are you that Carlos Silva is going to be awful again this year?
Christian: The only thing I’m more sure of is that his ERA will be even higher than his daily calories consumed.
Allen: About as sure as I am that he weighs a lot more than his listed 250 pounds.
Maks: About as confident as I now am that the Mariners should have drafted Tim Lincecum instead of Brandon Morrow — quite.
Taylor: I’d rather be optimistic and say that Silva can get over his mental struggles and become a solid pitcher for the M’s. Their pitching staff looks awesome. Felix, Bedard, Washburn, Batista. Why isn’t this working? And can Ichiro finally start doing interviews without a translator? It’s getting annoying.
2. Would you head-butt Louis Amundson for money?
Christian: Yes. Not only would I head-butt him, I would give him a closed-fist shove, and then go hang out with Zach Randolph and Nene. That would be a hell of a night.
Allen: As long as I can get away with it. Considering that Nene Hilario was actually suspended for two games without pay, I’d say I probably won’t get away with it.
Maks: If I had Tori Spelling’s face at my disposal, perhaps.
Taylor: Yeah, but I wouldn’t “break all of his face” like Nene said he would.
3. Do you care that Seattle apparently has a soccer team now that has won games?
Christian: I care as much about the Sounders as I do about my grade in history last quarter. Anyone who has seen my transcript knows how little that really is.
Allen: Honestly, soccer isn’t on my list of favorite sports. But it’s pretty cool to see soccer fans excited here, though I’m already tired of seeing pictures of Drew Carey leading the fans to Qwest Field every game. Who actually wants to pay $30 to see him scream and shout for two hours?
Maks: This town couldn’t even get behind an NBA team. I’d rather watch foosball.
Taylor: Any news about a Seattle sports team winning should be good news, so I am definitely happy that the Sounders are winning. Hopefully the winning can carry over to other Seattle teams. Husky basketball, Sounders soccer … Mariners baseball?
4. With spring football practice starting this week, what aspect of next year’s UW football team are you most excited about?
Christian: I’m looking forward to Steve Sarkisian’s themed practices, such as “No Turnover Wednesday.” That should be a nice change from last season’s recurring theme of “Turnover Saturday.”
Allen: Excited? For UW football? What is this, the early ’90s?
Maks: I don’t think the kicking/punting situation has been addressed much yet, but I’m excited about having a kicker with a working leg.
Taylor: The new coaches provide us with something to be excited about. After last year, it seems as if fans are welcoming any kind of change. After all, we can’t do any worse than last year. Husky football can only get better.
