Washington gymnastics won titles in every event this weekend to snap a three-meet losing streak against Arizona at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. The No. 30 Huskies upset Pac-10 rival No. 21 Arizona and earned a half-point victory over the Wildcats to score a season-high 195.150.

Senior Ashley Houghting earned two first-place finishes for the Huskies, and sophomores Kristen Linton and Samantha Walior also both won to give Washington their third straight meet win.

Starting the evening on vault, the top five Huskies each recorded a score over 9.700, with Houghting winning her fourth straight title on the apparatus this year with a 9.900.

The Huskies continued onto the second rotation with a title win on bars as Linton earned her third uneven bars title of the season with a score of 9.825. To add to the lead, three of the five Washington scores were a 9.700 or above.

Keeping its momentum into the third and final rotation, the Huskies took full control on both beam and floor. Walior recorded a season-best 9.900 on beam and a second beam title of the year, while Houghting scored another event title, tying for first on the floor with 9.850.

Swimming

In their final dual meet of the season, the No. 25 Washington women’s swim team topped Washington State with a 162.5-96.5 victory in Pullman Saturday.

The Huskies finished the season with a 12-8 overall record.

Ashley Daly, Hannah Ross and Lindsey Sharp were all double winners for the UW, while four other Huskies contributed to team wins.

On the men’s side, the UW came back to win the final seven races after losing three straight to take the meet with a 121-82 victory.

Andre Blyth earned the Huskies first win and later went on to take a second race. Evan Bernier, Jon Banker and Russ Mahan won the 100-yard freestyle, 400 individual medley and 100 breast stroke, respectively.

Washington capped the meet with the victory in the 400 free relay, led by Bernier, Scott Spansail, Ben Aaberg and David Bai.

Both teams now turn their attention to the Pac-10 tournament.

Men’s tennis

Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Patrik Fischer both fought back after losing their first sets to win their respective matches and help the UW men’s tennis team defeat Oklahoma 6-1 Friday.

In doubles, Nedunchezhiyan and Martin Kildahl dominated seven straight games against Sergey Avdeyev and Ionut Beleleu to guide them to a 8-2 win. Fischer and Derek Drabble also won their doubles match, but the result was a razor thin, 9-8.

But the two doubles teams were defeated by Boise State yesterday and the Huskies lost overall, 4-3, to bring their overall record to 5-3.

Up next for the Dawgs will be a pair of home matches against Oregon and Fresno State in two weeks.
