According to ESPN, University of New Mexico soccer player Elizabeth Lambert has been suspended for excessive behavior during a soccer game. Lambert punched an opposing player in the back and pulled on another player’s ponytail to the point of dragging her to the ground during a game with BYU. Lambert has apologized for her actions, saying she was “deeply and wholeheartedly regretful.”

Reuters is reporting that a drunken riot broke out in Todos Santos Cuchumatan, Guatemala, during a traditional Mayan horse race last Sunday. The mayor of the town, Modesto Mendez, had introduced a hard-liquor ban in May to try to prevent drunken fighting, accidents and death. Many riders during the race fell off their horses after consuming large amounts of homemade alcohol beforehand. Mendez admitted it is difficult to prevent drinking at events like this.

Raves:

According to The Associated Press, a South Korean woman passed her written driving test after 950 previous attempts. Cha Sa-soon, 68, has taken the exam almost daily since April of 2005 and has spent close to 5 million won ($4,200) on exam fees. Now she has to pass her driving test to get a license.

"The bill now need to be merged with a Senate version."

That just doesn't sound accurate. It seems you are implying that this bill is being hashed out in committee. The truth is the Senate hasn't passed ANY version of health care reform this year. And from most predictions, they will have a much tougher time doing so than was experienced in the House.

Martin,

Your cartoon about how the US "uses" immigrants to its advantage and then "deports" them when they can no longer be "used" is so very true. Courageous Cartoon. Look forward to more.

Whenever people mention illegal immigrants, I remind them that numerous European nations 'illegally' invaded a continent and 'illegally' wiped out millions of indigenous people.
