Football

Washington vs. Arizona

7 p.m., Saturday, Husky Stadium

It’s not quite the lure of the last home game, which was a thrilling, shocking 16-13 win over No. 3 USC that caused the students to storm the field. Don’t look for that to happen this time, since Arizona isn’t that kind of marquee opponent. Still, it’s a big game for UW — a loss would make them 2-4 and would make the road to a bowl game a lot harder. A win would move them to .500 and make that magic six-win mark seem a whole lot more attainable. That should make for a good atmosphere in itself, so it may be a good idea to get there about an hour early to ensure prime viewing position. Just don’t drink too much in the parking lot beforehand.

Women’s soccer

Washington vs.

Washington State

7 p.m., Friday,

Husky Soccer Field

It’s a rivalry game for the women’s soccer team in its Pac-10 opener, and it could give them a nice jump on what proves once more to be a tough Pac-10 schedule. Students get in free to all soccer games with their Husky Card. And while the tailgate scene may not be the same as it is for football, attendance at these games is usually such that you can sit pretty much wherever you want. Even more incentive to go: They have a better winning percentage than the Sounders.
