Although Halloween is less than 24 hours away, there’s still time to find or create that perfect costume. To aid in your search, here are four looks that will stand out and make you feel drop-dead gorgeous.

Balloon boy

The easiest to reuse and recycle, this costume is sure to make you the center of attention.

Clothing

Obtain a cardboard box that is big enough for the wearer to fit their shoulders comfortably inside. Cut a large hole in the bottom of the box so the user can stick his or her head through.

Accessories

This costume wouldn’t be complete without a large silver Mylar balloon. Find one at any party store, and keep the balloon with you throughout the night.

Alternative option

Dress all in black and spray paint a chef’s hat silver, or fashion one out of a Mylar balloon turned inside out, or an emergency blanket. Tie a baby doll to the end of a rope and tie the rope to belt with the baby dangling at about knee length. Tuck the end of the rope into your hat, and party like a balloon hoax.

Taylor Swift and Kanye West

Move over Jon and Kate. This unique couples’ costume will put all others to shame. Reminiscent of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), any couple dressed up as this famous duo is sure to be a topic of conversation.

Inexpensive and easy. Pair baggy, moderate to dark-wash jeans with a black fitted T-shirt.

Accessories

To complete the look, wear a pair of sneakers and shutter shades ­— not “stunna” — and a long necklace that hangs down to at least your upper-abdominal area. Wearer earns extra points for wearing one with a Jesus piece. If you want to go for a more VMA-authentic look, opt for an empty alcohol bottle and the microphone West stole from Swift. For extra drama, put on a high-maintenance attitude.

Clothing

Classy, yet comfortable. Wear your old high-school homecoming or prom gown with matching heels. The more sequins the better.

A loose bun with curls.

Accessories

Finish your look by carrying around a large silver trophy.

Swine flu

Sometimes laughter is the best medicine. Treat yourself to a costume that will be known by all.

Clothing

Wear pink or peach-colored clothing. Anything from shorts and a T-shirt to a full body suit will do.

Accessories

Instead of purchasing a pig nose and tail, use makeup to draw on the nose and use a curly pink pipe cleaner for the tail. Add angel or “fairy-esque” wings to finish the costume.
