1. USC: Trojans’ eighth consecutive Pac-10 title will be won or lost against Oregon this week.

2. Oregon: We already know about the big game against USC on Halloween, but the bigger story is what uniforms the Ducks come out with. Maybe it’ll be something worth looking at, since the holiday is all about dressing up as something you’re not.

3. Arizona: Wildcats would be BCS contenders if not for that stunning loss to the Huskies.

4. Stanford: Cardinal needs one more win to be bowl eligible.

5. California: The Bears continue to look more and more like a team that can compete with anyone. But giving up more than 400 yards of total offense to Washington State also means their defense is in some serious trouble.

6. Oregon State: The Beavers had a chance to play spoiler for USC again this year but came up a little short this time. Still, that close loss shows they’re, again, a team to fear down the stretch.

7. Arizona State: Loss to Stanford showed the Sun Devils clearly don’t belong in the upper half of the conference. Six wins has to be viewed as an accomplishment now.

8. Washington: Just about the worst showing possible against Oregon, but the Huskies’ next game is against a UCLA team still looking for its first Pac-10 win. UW has to win that game to be considered as a team that’s still improving.

9. UCLA: A serviceable defense isn’t getting any help from an offense that’s been downright terrible. You wonder how long Bruins fans are going to put up with that from Rick Neuheisel, whose teams have never been short on offensive firepower.

10. Washington State: Bad.
