1. USC: Win over Notre Dame was closer than it should have been. The big game is next week, obviously, when the Trojans play Oregon for first place in the conference. Winner has the inside track to the Rose Bowl, assuming USC can hold off the Beavers this week.
2. Oregon: This week’s contest against Washington will be the rivalry’s most heated game in a while. But the Ducks still have to look at it as a game they’ll win. Huskies could catch them looking ahead to USC.
3. Oregon State: Always good to play USC after a bye week. But the Trojans already had their letdown loss this year, so the Beavers may be catching them at the wrong time.
4. Arizona: Wildcats would be undefeated in Pac-10 play if not for Mason Foster’s immaculate interception.
5. Arizona State: A bowl game seems imminent now for the Sun Devils after they took a tough win from the Huskies. Still, next four games are against California, Stanford, USC and Oregon.
6. Stanford: Cardinal has to find two more wins in its final five games to make it back to a bowl game. That could be tough to do, since all of them are against teams with above-.500 records. Four of the five games are at home, though.
7. California: Jeff Tedford got his offense back on track against UCLA. The Bears could be a dangerous team down the stretch, if they play the way they were expected to all season.
8. Washington: Steve Sarkisian needs a bounce-back game against Oregon to quiet the criticism from last week. But the Huskies could play their best game of the season and still not have enough to shut down Oregon’s offense.
9. UCLA: The Bruins are turning out to be the team that most probably thought they’d be, losing their last three and heading into Tucson this week to face No. 22 Arizona. Three more wins might be tough to find.
10. Washington State: Bad.
