Gymnastics
After falling out of the top 25 last Friday against No. 3 Utah, the Washington gymnastics team will look to right the ship in the Bay Area against Pac-10 rival California and Illinois State Sunday.
Senior Ashley Houghting led the Huskies to a season-high score of 49.00 on the vault. This performance moved Houghting into a tie for No. 12 in the country on the apparatus. Sophomore Samantha Walior sits just outside the top 50 at No. 52 in the nation on the beam, averaging a score of 9.792.
Among the leaders on the Huskies is freshman Hatsune Akaogi. Akaogi took fourth on the beam and all-around last Friday and marked a career-high 9.800 on the bars.
The Huskies have won their last nine meetings against the Bears.
Golf
The UW men’s golf team is back in action next week when they play in the Waikoloa Intercollegiate tournament in Kamuela, Hawaii.
Junior Nick Taylor is coming off his second career collegiate victory at the CordeValle Collegiate and will lead the Huskies against top competition.
Taylor was also a runner-up at the 2008 NCAA Championship and finished second at the World Amateur Championship in Adelaide, Australia in October.
The No. 10 Huskies will also field juniors Richard Lee and Chris Killmer.
