At about 10:15 p.m. yesterday, a man fell out of one of the cherry trees in the Quad, prompting a medical response from the Seattle Fire Department and the UW Police Department.
“He’d been drinking a tad and fell out of a tree,” said junior Kayleigh McNiel, who witnessed the fall. “He was pretty high up there, [about] 10-15 feet. … He smells like alcohol.”
The man and a male friend — neither students at the UW — were purportedly under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when emergency personnel arrived to assess the fallen man’s injuries.
The man was standing up and answering questions as officers checked to see if he was injured. He knew it was 2008 but could not recall his address.
Both men were allowed to leave the scene after emergency personnel concluded that he hadn’t suffered any major injuries. They walked off in the direction of Denny Hall.

Is this out of The Onion or something!? I have to agree with what's written above, this is probably one of the least news worthy stories I've ever seen... and it made the front page!? Guy falls from tree and walks away.
If you want a news lead an inside source tells me that a sorority girl will trip while walking down Greek Row tonight... better have a reporter on it!

Well I enjoyed this story a little bit. Though, let me clarify that I wasn't smoking marijuana although 80 oz. of alcohol would make some think that I was under the influence of more illicit substances.. I appreciated the EMTs, though from what I'm told the police's involvement left much to be desired. Concussions aren't cool...
Newton was correct...darn...

I misread the title of the article and thought it read that "Man fells tree in the Quad". Weird phrasing? yes. The image of someone drunkenly chopping down a tree(while possibly singing or whistling unintelligibly)? Hilarious.
Now that would have been newsworthy.

Hahahahaha. Maybe it was funnier last night than it was today, but -- come on people. If all The Daily covered was 100% serious and life-changing news, readership would go down. I mean... a guy fell out of a tree! That's awesome!
Oh, and speaking of the Greek system, just wait for tomorrow's front page :)

I would have to agree. It's stories like this one that cheer me up and make me smile when I'm reading the paper during my morning lecture. variety is a good thing, and this sort of thing is hilarious.

LMAO... I love this article. How it was front page news I'll never know, but what are you gonna do?
