Bomb squad reports to U-Village home

Residents of an apartment at 5127 24th Ave NE near U-Village were the victims of a break-in yesterday evening, and found that a suspicious package was left in their home.

The police were alerted and detectives from the bomb squad arrived on the scene at about 5:30 p.m.

Detective Meyer said they received a call regarding a “suspicious package that the owner of the apartment didn’t recognize.” The bomb squad performed a render-safe procedure to open the package, which contained what was described as a cylindrical object with wires attached to it. The squad determined the device was fake.

“We were a little nervous at first,” one resident of the building said, “but then the cops came and handled it really well.”

The residents of the apartment were unavailable, and the apartment manager declined to comment on the scare.
