Thursday, Feb. 21

7:30 p.m. — Town Hall — In Zing Go the Strings, a diverse assortment of string instrument artists from around the world will perform, including a horsehead fiddle/traditional dance duo from Mongolia, an American string band group and square dance instructor, and a Seattle-based Arab music ensemble. All ages. $18 advanced, $20 at the door. For Town Hall members prices are $15 in advance, $17 at the door.

7:30 p.m. — Seattle Repertory Theater — Constance Congdon presents The Imaginary Invalid, a comedic satire on medicine, hypochondriacs and mistaken identities from the famous French playwright Molière. All ages. $10-$59. Additional performances through March 22.

8 p.m. —The Paramount — Paris-based Afro-funk vocalist Angélique Kidjo. All ages. $30 in advance, $35 day of show.

Seattle Art Museum — Roman Art from the Louvre — Approximately 180 pieces spanning nearly 300 years of Roman history will be on display through May 11, including many that have never been displayed before in the United States. In addition, the museum will host related events through Sunday, including guided tours, hands-on activities, and free music and entertainment.

Vantage Point: After an assassination attempt is made in Spain on the U.S. president, eight distinct viewpoints present the events in an attempt to capture the shooter. Starring Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, Sigourney Weaver and

William Hurt. Rated PG-13.

Charlie Bartlett: A teenager (Anton Yelchin) becomes the resident underground “psychiatrist” of his new school when he begins to offer his fellow students advice and hand out medication given to him by his own psychiatrist. However, Bartlett’s practice begins to fall apart when he garners the attention of the school’s principal. Also starring Kat Dennings, Tyler Hilton and Robert Downey Jr. Rated R.

7 p.m. — HUB North Den — The UW’s Internet radio station, Rainy Dawg Radio, will celebrate its fifth year with a birthday bash featuring indie artists Blitzen Trapper, BOAT, and Menomena. All ages. Tickets are available for $6 in the HUB ticket office with a valid UW ID, while general admission tickets can be purchased through TicketsWest for $12.

7 p.m. (doors), 8 p.m. (show) — El Corazón — The venue celebrates its third anniversary with a show featuring These Arms Are Snakes, Mouth of the Architect, Helms Alee and Past Lives (featuring past members of both The Blood Brothers and Shoplifting). $10 advanced, $12 day of show and at the door.

7:30 p.m. — Spectrum Dance Theater — Inspired by Jewish entertainers who sought to generate optimism and affirm life even while imprisoned during the Holocaust, The Theater of Needless Talents connects the events of the Holocaust to present-day genocides through a combination of dance, theater and cabaret. All ages. $18 advanced, $20 day of show and at the door. Additional performances through March 2.

8 p.m. — ACT Theater — Hope Wechkin stars in Charisma, a one-woman comedy about a hospital patient who faces a stream of visitors bearing dour advice. All ages. $20. Additional performances through March 1.

Saturday, Feb. 23

8 p.m. (doors) — Showbox SoDo — SPIN magazine — The Hives, The Donnas and Holy Ghost Revival. All ages (bar with ID). $17.50 in advance, $20 day of show and at the door.

8 p.m. (doors) — Bell Harbor International Conference Center — Seventh annual PONCHO Invitational Fine Art Auction, “Addicted to Art.” The auction will serve as a benefit for the Northwest Arts Organizations and Artists and will feature art from a variety of Northwest artists and craftsmen as well as meet-and-greets with the artists.

Sunday, Feb. 24

7 p.m. — Skylark Café and Club — In one of only four all-ages shows for this month, an amalgam of artists including acoustic rock-influenced Glenn Halldorson, jazz musician Laurianne Beacham and tango artist Jacqueline Leigh will perform. All ages (bar with ID). Free.

7:30 p.m. — Penthouse Theatre — Desdemona Chiang directs Gibraltar, Octavio Solis’s drama of love and loss in San Francisco. $8-$15. Additional performances through March 9.

8 p.m. (doors) — Showbox at the Market — Strong Killings and Palmer, AK. 21 and older. $5 at the door.

Monday, Feb. 25

7 p.m. (doors), 7:30 p.m. (show) — Studio Seven — My Children My Bride, For The Fallen Dreams, Stray from the Path, and As Dead As O-Ren. All ages (bar with ID). $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

8 p.m. (doors) — Chop Suey — Yes, Oh Yes, Blanket Truth, and The Pica Beats. 21 and over. $6.

Tuesday, Feb. 26

4 p.m. — Jacob Lawrence Gallery — An opening reception for the UW School of Art’s annual Open Juried Student Show will be held in the gallery, with the exhibit premiering on Wednesday. The exhibition will be display through March 16.

6 p.m. (doors), 7:30 p.m. (show) — Jazz Alley — World-renowned flamenco guitarist Juan Cañizares will be performing to promote his latest album, Suite Iberia. $26.50. Additional performance on Feb. 27.

7 p.m. — The Triple Door — Vince Mira quickly went from playing at Pike Place Market to performing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Good Morning America after it was found that he sounded like nothing short of a reincarnated Johnny Cash. The Triple Door will host a CD release party for the artist’s latest, Cash Cabin Sessions. The show will also feature opening performers the Roy Kay Trio and Lonesome Rhoads, as well as the Can Can Castaways, Mike Vermillion, Hannah Week, Daniel Rodriguez, members of the Bad Things, DJ Miles and His Spinning 45’s, and Alex the Lion. Additional 21 and older show at 9:30 p.m. $14.

7 p.m. — Experience Music Project — In Oral History Live! An Evening with El Vez and Friends, the self-proclaimed Mexican Elvis discusses his career and takes questions from the audience. $5 for the general public, free for EMP/SFM members.

7:30 p.m. —The Paramount — Seattle Theatre Group presents famed poet, actress and civil rights activist Maya Angelou. All ages. $38-$82.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

8 p.m. — Neumos — Project Mayhem, Hip Hop Congress, Laced Up, Silent Lamb Project and The Block Teamsters Union. 21 and older. $10 advanced.
