A good cigar, smoked properly, offers an enjoyable experience that is soft on the lungs.
Primeros Regionales cigars offer high value at a low price. This cigar.com hand-rolled house brand is priced to sell as an everyday smoke — just $1 each.
Although one from the Honduran line is cheap, the cigar is an enjoyable smoke at an unbeatable price, making it a great option for an amateur wishing to break into the hobby of cigar appreciation.
The Churchill size classification — in this case, 7x48 (7 inches long with a diameter, or ring gauge, of 48/64 inch) — demands patience; smoking it in less than an hour or so will yield a hotter burn with harsher smoke.
Properly lit and smoked, a Honduran Primeros produces low-strength smoke with a smooth draw, meaning the tobacco is mild — as is the nicotine “buzz” — and the smoke is not harsh.
It is tightly packed, with a very light grey ash that holds together well. Therefore, the cigar burns slowly and coolly — a desirable quality — and fairly evenly, in a uniform ring.
A medium-brown “Habano” wrapper — a bit darker than a usual wrapper — along with the Honduran tobacco within, flavor the cigar with a mild woody/earthy taste with a very subtle coffee tone. It’s not a complex cigar; the flavor and aroma are more or less consistent throughout.
Smoked and lit correctly — instructions are available at cigars.about.com — Honduran Primeros are lovely cigars at a price that is minimal for hand-rolled cigars.
