Dawgs lose to No. 11 Oregon State in Corvallis

The Washington gymnastics team opened up their conference season with a disappointing loss to No. 11 Oregon State Friday in Corvallis.

After losing to No. 15 Denver University the week before, the Dawgs were hoping for a victory over their longtime foe, the Beavers. The Huskies lost to the Beavers 195.625 to 191.425 and now stand 0-2, 0-1 (Pac-10).

While the loss may have been upsetting for Washington, several members of the team had good showings.

The freshmen continued to make their strong season debut, with some top performances in the events. Freshman Haley Bogart took home her first collegiate career win on the beam with a score of 9.825. Fellow freshman Kristen Linton also had a successful night, earning second place on bars with a score of 9.825. Linton also tied for second on the beam with a score of 9.775.

Washington ended the meet by scoring a season high 48.125 points on beam, largely with the help of Bogart’s and Linton’s one-two finish. However, a strong finish by Oregon State on the floor sealed the win for the Beavers and improved their record to 2-1, 2-1 (Pac-10).

After competing in two meets on the road, the Dawgs will be glad to return home this week where they will take on California this Friday at 7 p.m. in Bank of America Arena.
