I feel as though I need to choose my candidate for president in 2008 this minute. I'm not entirely sure why, but it seems to be of the essence for me to cast my mental vote now with all of these debates and back-and-forth bickering between presidential hopefuls.
Mind you, I might entirely forget who I choose today when the election does in fact occur next November, in which case I will revert to the old fashioned "Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Mo" strategy, on which I have heavily relied for all the other important decisions of my life. Not to mention that the primaries haven't even occurred, so my choice might not even be in the race for president when the election draws nearer.
But when have such trivial concerns ever stopped me from making tough decisions?
Now if you're anything like me, then you know that when it comes to presidential candidates, decisions must be based on something completely irrelevant to anything that candidate will do once he or she is in office. You should never actually decide based on a candidate's views and stances pertaining to certain issues, because most politicians will say anything to get the public on their side. Usually someone will take one side of an issue or make a ridiculous proclamation (like curing world hunger) and then go into office and turn out to be a major letdown. Therefore, it is necessary to judge candidates on more superficial means, like their looks, or the drugs they did in college.
Yet with the 2008 presidential race, one topic has sparked so many debates among the masses that it's become the quintessential do-or-die issue of the candidacy. That's right, I'm talking about the "Girls."
If you're a YouTube addict like myself, then you've known about these women for a while. But even if you don't fancy spending your afternoons watching crazy Japanese game shows or highlights from European soccer matches, you probably still have an idea of who I'm talking about.
Not too long ago, a video came out called "I Got a Crush ... On Obama," by Obama Girl. In it, a very attractive woman, who in some scenes is dressed in next to nothing, sings her devotion to the Illinois Senator. To everyone's surprise, it became a hit.
However, because the creators of the video over at http://barelypolitical.com believe in democracy and fairness, they soon made another video that brought along Guiliani Girl, a GOP-lovin' vixen who went toe-to-toe with Obama Girl in a classic sing-and-dance fight to the finish. Although there was no clear winner at the end, it was clear that the 2008 presidential campaign had just unknowingly become more significant.
And as if one couldn't be any more excited about the upcoming primaries, the site one-upped itself by releasing the Romney Triplets video, where a set of triplets — yes, triplets — attack Obama Girl for being a flip-flopper, using the same term that destroyed John Kerry's campaign in 2004. In other words, they meant business.
So, as you can guess, my vote at this point is definitely going to Mitt Romney. I don't care that he's a Republican or that he's against gay marriage. Anyone who can get a group of triplets on his or her side and make them verbally rip apart other attractive women while scantily clad automatically gains my support.
If anything, I wish to applaud the Internet for finally making this process entertaining for people like me.
Although I've always tried to stay up on my politics when election year came around, I was usually sent into a deep sleep whenever the words "election" and "Iowa" were used in the same sentence. But with all of these videos popping up, I'm finally seeing why so many people my age are enthusiastic about "becoming a factor to our society."
Therefore, heed my words. When next November rolls around and you are still having trouble deciding whom to give your support to, look outside the box. Forget all the important crap and think of the little things that make a good leader. Confidence, intelligence and most of all sex appeal.

Very good Eric, very good. I completely agree with you, and although I've never seen any of the videos, I am going to look them up right after I'm done with this comment. However, I must say I think the triplets are going to win me over as well - we'll see what happens.
