Seattle firefighters report the little damage caused by the fire to Flowers manager Fadi Hanade (center). Flowers is expected to open in a few days following thorough cleaning and an inspection by a Fire Marshal.

Jim Fosse, deputy chief of the Seattle Fire Department, said firefighters got the call at 6:19 p.m. By the time they arrived, the restaurant had already been evacuated.

The fire was caused by grease in the kitchen, and the flames went up the smoke stack and caught some of the ceiling on fire.

Terry Gatechair was cleaning the grill at the time the fire started. He said he was not sure how the fire started, but it spread quickly, and he called the fire department right away.

Fadi Hamade, the owner of Flowers, said he hopes to re-open in a few days.

It was nothing serious,” he said. “There was no structural damage. We just have to clean the place up.”
