SPOTLIGHT: GREEN LAKE

Share

There are many exciting clubs and classy eateries around Greenlake, but the lake itself the a key element of the area. Green Lake is one of Seattle’s most beloved parks. Its beauty, especially in the summer, is stunning and a breath of fresh air (literally) to the urban neighborhoods that surround it.

The 2.8-mile path around the lake provides a perfect recreational spot for runners, bikers, skaters, walkers and athletes alike. The adjacent 3.2 mile trail is ideal as well.

For those not running, there are athletic fields for baseball and softball to use. The park also has places for picnics and swimming. Although public use of motorized boats has been banned since at least 1968, there are still other forms of motor-less boats that can be seen on the water, such as rowboats, sailboats and canoes.

The park serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, as well as numerous birds and waterfowl.

With summer rapidly approaching, Green Lake is the perfect place to unwind and mingle with friends.
