SPOTLIGHT: Queen Anne

Queen Anne hosts some of the most coveted places to live in Seattle, but not many from outside the district know about it. The neighborhood is praised for being safe, quaint and wealthy.

Shops and restaurants line Queen Anne Avenue, the main street that runs through the Queen Anne neighborhood.

The main place to go for entertainment is atop the hill, the commercial district, along Queen Anne Avenue North. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants where patrons can treat themselves along the way. Bring your pets, too — they might even make a friend among the plethora of other Saint Bernards and Boston terriers.

Set out for Queen Anne on a late morning or early weekend afternoon. At around 10 p.m. most places are open but less crowded, and most of the community consists of parents with their children. The strong sense of community in this neighborhood truly shines around these times — you may just have a door or two opened for you.
