QUEEN ANNE: Olympia Pizza and Spaghetti House

A group of Olympia Pizza and Spaghetti House patrons meet for lunch at the restaurant, located at the top of the Queen Anne hill.

Olympia Pizza is a Greek-influenced Italian restaurant — one that gives off a very family oriented, nostalgic vibe as soon as you enter the building. Although the service is relaxed, the staff are polite and treat the guests more like family members than customers.

The décor is rather minimal throughout the place, and there are more posters of Greece and Mediterranean scenes than anything that resembles Italy. The tables are clean, the seats are worn, and each section in the small place has an individual homey feeling.

With a wide variety of pizzas to choose from, it is apparent many are Mediterranean-themed, with artichoke hearts and olives showing up as reccurring ingredients. The chicken, artichoke heart and broccoli pizza is probably the best bet, although there are also the standard pepperoni and veggie pizzas on the menu. The crust is about as perfect as crusts can be, with just the right amount of crunch and flavor.

The menu also features a much smaller variety of pastas, notably a delicious ravioli dish that is marked by a homemade marinara. The sauce contains a nice blend of oil, herbs and tomato, and adds a little extra zing when ordered as a condiment for Olympia's otherwise mediocre spiro Italian three-meat sub sandwich. Ultimately, the restaurant is great for a lunch visit or at least a quick evening dinner on the way to a movie.
