On a day when keeping the statistics should have included the wind chill factor and inches of rain, the Washington football team had its second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday morning.

With the weather contributing considerably, many Huskies has a less-than-desirable practice, prompting Coach Don James to remark, “We’re a very long way from being a good football team.”

Despite his critical comment on a squad which is picked by some as a possible national champion next season, James was pleased with some individual performances.

It’s amazing sometimes that they can do as well as they do,” James said, speaking mainly about the lack of interceptions thrown by his four quarterbacks.

On a day like Saturday it would seem almost assured that at least one bad pass would end up in the arms of the defender.
