Husky men's crew face 'test of endurance'

The men's crew heading for the regatta in Spokane tomorrow will face a real test of endurance of Liberty Lake.

The Huskies did very well against WSU and Western last weekend and the two schools are expected to be the only competition in Spokane.

"All three of the Husky men's crews that will participate tomorrow (the varsity lightweight eight, the no. 4 varsity eight and a frosh crew), will row in two races each, with about an hour's rest between races.

Assistant coach Terry Fisk is confident, however, that the Huskies can easily win with the right strategy. "Because the teams will race twice, they can't go all out in the first race. Hopefully they won't have to," Fisk said.

The crews have been practicing twice a day a couple times a week, so Fisk is convinced the men are physically ready for the challenge of endurance. They crew members themselves are comfortably assured that they will return from Spokane victorious.
