The event kicked off with an opening group dance performance to Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back," followed by a formal tuxedo walk with female escorts and biographies of the men.

The contestants were given the opportunity to woo the female escorts with their best pick-up lines.

Hosted by Fred Northup, last night's judges included last year's Mr. Greek winner Rob Gay; ASUW Vice President Jerome McCuin; Alpha Gamma Delta house mom Bonnie Britten; and two representatives from Treehouse For Kids, Shaunessy Jones and Erin Bradley.

The scoring was based on 50 percent fundraising, 30 percent talent, 15 percent modeling and 5 percent participation.

"I was really surprised about the ticket sales because it varied between houses," said Janell Varga, philanthropy coordinator of Alpha Gamma Delta. "It was a lot louder than last year. We filled up the whole bottom section and up to the balcony. It's a different atmosphere with college kids, but it was a good turnout. Families, friends and people from off campus came."

The event moved on to the talent competition, with performances ranging from a Super Mario video game skit to beat boxing.

"I was really impressed with the talent tonight," Varga said. "Some of the guys didn't talk much at the meetings, and I was surprised with how outgoing they were."

Talent competition winner Nathan Crissey from Kappa Alpha Order performed a crowd-pleasing yo-yo routine.

"I've been yo-yoing for nine years," Crissey said. "It started back in middle school because everyone else was doing it. I just kept with it since then. It's enjoyable because you can always have it with you and you don't need any special equipment. I knew I had good talent, but there was a lot [of] great talent out there tonight. It's good to see the variety of talents guys in the Greek system have."

Gay, who was Mr. Greek 2006, performed the piano blindfolded last year and made an impromptu performance while the judges deliberated.

Alpha Tau Omega's Matt Benjamin was named second runner-up and Delta Tau Delta's Kustaa Mansfield first runner-up.

The Best Sense of Humor award went to Dan Garland from Phi Kappa Tau.

The Top Fundraiser award went to Reid.

Overall, the Mr. Greek competition was a success, Varga said.

"Preparation took a lot more work this year," Varga said. "I think we had a good group of 12 guys, and a lot of the guys were really dedicated. I'm really happy with the guys; I think they had fun."
