Volleyball: Christal Morrison
In her second-to-last regular season home game as a Husky Nov. 21, senior outside hitter Christal Morrison tallied 13 kills to become Washington's career kills leader, passing Sonja Tomasevic's (2002-2005) mark of 1,795 kills. Morrison has since been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 19-25, her third Player of the Week honor this season. Morrison became the third player in Pac-10 history to win the award seven times.
Football: Louis Rankin
Husky senior tailback Louis Rankin used a 145-yard rushing game Saturday at Hawaii to break into the UW's top-five single-season rushing list, passing Greg Lewis for fifth all-time. Rankin's season total of 1,294 rushing yards makes him the first tailback since Rashaan Shehee (1997) to break the 1,000-yard mark.
Football: Jake Locker
Redshirt freshman quarterback Jake Locker ran for 986 yards this season, and broke numerous records along the way. Locker scorched Dennis Fitzpatrick's UW single-season rushing record for a quarterback of 697 yards by week 10 at Stanford. Locker also broke the Pac-10's modern single-season rushing record for a quarterback during the Apple Cup. The record was set at 815 yards in 1976 by Jeff Dankworth. Locker's 13 rushing touchdowns are the most ever by a UW quarterback, and he's already second on the UW's career list of rushing yards by a quarterback, trailing Marques Tuiasosopo by just 509 yards.
Men's Soccer: Ely Allen
Washington senior forward Ely Allen was named Co-Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Year after he notched a conference-leading 24 points and 11 goals. Allen, who is a two-time All Pac-10 first-team selection, led the Huskies to the second round of the NCAA tournament, despite a season ending injury to redshirt senior forward Kevin Forrest, who was atop the conference leader board in scoring at the time of his injury.
Men's Golf: Zach Bixler
UW senior men's golfer Zach Bixler tied the NCAA single-round record, and the Washington school record with his score of 11-under 60, in the second round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Oct. 8. Bixler became the fifth golfer and second Husky ever to accomplish this task. Bixler was also named Pac-10 Co-Golfer of the month for October and November 2007.
