Italian justices are in the process of questioning UW study abroad student Amanda Knox and two other suspects in the homicide case of English student Meredith Kercher.
Knox has been held in Italian custody since Tuesday, along with suspects Raffaele Sollecito, an Italian student, and Diya “Patrick” Lumumba, a Congolese immigrant, for her possible involvement in the murder of Kercher, her roommate. A formal hearing began yesterday.
According to a Nov. 8 article in the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica (“Ora il gip decide sui fermi Lumumba: “Mai stato in quella casa”), Lumumba told the judge that he has never been in Kercher and Knox’s “house of horror.”
Lumumba’s lawyers claim their client was at work at the time of the crime, according to the article, which is at odds with Knox’s claim that Lumumba entered the room where Kercher was murdered.
Lumumba’s lawyers have called Knox “an absolute liar.”
The judge, Claudia Matteini, has authorized Knox’s parents to visit her in prison, according to the article. Matteini will render a verdict today.

Friends of the murdered girl say Knox brought many men home throughout the weeknights she lived there... man why didn't I know her when she was at UW... she could be holding me down right now... if you know what I mean.

If the comment above offends anybody, I respect that and what your viewpoint is, uh political correctness and that's cool man, I respect that. Really, lets exhibit a little tolerance if it does offend anyone.

According to this dude Tripoli on the News this morning, Knox was a perfect angel. Sorry, I have to doubt that depiction. No, I don't know Knox, but I seriously doubt she's a perfect angel as this guy Tripoli is proclaiming. I also seriously doubt that Italian police would keep someone in jail for a year if they didn't have serious evidence against that someone. Seriously. Also, Mr. Tripoli stated that Amanda could never do such a thing. Yeah, well - whoever thought OJ Simpson would murder two people, either??

Let me correct the typo- a savage and a wanker, italian police have serious and substantial evidence to prove this girl murdered an english student...yet it takes days for that story to filter through to washington. somehow if an american student had been killed then it would be headlines all over the u.s.

Wow, just like in the Britsh tabloid media, she's already been convicted here. Just b/c police make a statement regarding evidence or guilt doesn't make it true. According to other sources, the judge actually stated her findings in probablistic terms -- not absolutes. There have been no "smoking guns", no release of credible formal forensic reports to date, and no complete transcript of any police interrogations made availabe (at least, not through the media or otherwise widely circulated). And, yet, everyone seems willing to belive the worst of Ms. Knox -- and the best of the victim. Come on, NO ONE is perfect, so stop casting those stones... let the "facts" come out before being so damn quick to believe everything you read.

"NO ONE is perfect?" Uh, excuse me, but we're talking about murder, here. Murder. A girl is dead, killed in a horrible way. This is not about jaywalking. And btw, people have every right to speculate - this paper is not a court of law. If people have ideas about this case, they certainly can express them. And, quite often the last person to see a victim alive is the Perp - and from what I understand Knox was the last person to see her roommate. Commenters here aren't under any gag order! Speculate if you so desire, people. Whether or not Knox is convicted, it will happen in a court of law, not on this paper or any other. So, stop trying to silence people!

You want to know what elements Judge Matteini weighted to incriminate Amanda Knox this morning? No problem, it's pretty well clear.

Here's my theory-
Sollecito,Knox, and Kercher meet Lumumba at the club. They all drink and go back to the apartment. Lumumba follows Kercher into her room. They start fooling around and Lumumba gets aggressive. Kercher gets scared and says stop. Lumumba, now drunk, probably high and riled up, pulls knife. Kercher tries to fights back.
Knox and boyfriend are in the kitchen and hear the screams but are freaked out because they too are drunk and out of it.
Knox gets interrogated by police without a lawyer present, in a foreign country in a language that she's not fluent in. She's probably sleep deprived, hysterical and forced to say things that don't make sense under undue pressure. The police are under a time crunch to name suspects and the media flames the fire.
She will be cleared of the charges. She's just very unfortunate to be in the wrong place in the wrong circumstance.
Just as a tangent, the Italian justice system is a joke. This is the same country that still has the mafia operating openly in the south.

Hey Judge,
Really you're a so fine theorist! Did you read evidence? Or perhaps you need a translator? Such a self-referenced theorist, you give questions and answers by yourself? She has not been cleared, she's under arrest for 1 year waiting trial for murder.

Mr theorist,
Would'nt it better to start learning languages? here a translation of facts, for your convenience.

She is not awaiting trial for murder... she has not even been charged yet. They are only holding her in jail while investigating the murder to determine what charges can be brought against her and the two men. As for the website, try an actual credible news source that objectively cites facts, like the bbc... in my personal opinion, it stands as innocent until proven guilty

It seems anybody is hiding a part of what really happened. Amanda says she came back home the morning after, but today has been reported that a carparking videocamera shows her coming back home at 20.30 p.m., same day. Raffaele says he never entered the house after "the fact", but there are footmarks on the blood same shape and size of his. Patrick (Lumumba) cited witnesses that did not confirm his precence at his own pub in those hours. And a strange heel-mark on a blood stain has just been discovered, another girl?
Today scintific examinations start...while there's a lot of rumour in Italy on this sad event. On papers and tv.
Sounds like a bad story among handsome young dudes

There is so much blood evidence it's not funny. And blood = DNA. The three will be convicted, I have no doubt. Oh, and all of those text messages and phone calls between A and R after the fact. Newsflash: When committing a major crime, people, stay off the cell!

"She will be cleared of the charges." --Judge Matteini, above. Don't agree with you, Judge, I think she's guilty and will be spending a huge chunk of her future life in prison. Raffaele and Lamuumba, too.

She ain't "foxy" by a long-shot. "A bit above average" is more on the money. What a spoiled thoughtless little tramp - we at least know she stood by while her roommate was assaulted and killed, never called the cops afterwards, and lied to the cops when they did show up - just for that she should be gang-banged by a pack of silverbacks and bled out.

Why is it such a foreign concept to people that a college student is capable of murder? People act as though because she was an American student she is incapable of malice. Based on what I know about the case- I think they are all in part guilty- maybe Amanda wasn't the one to pull the knife- but she most certainly knew the act happened and I don't think she did anything to prevent it or report it. And it is a little suspicious when her story has changed so many times—don’t you think?

Why not send Amanda Knox to the best interrogation camp; Guatanamo Bay!!..I am sure Meredith's parents will want the best interrogators possible..why not take a few finger nails while they are at it!!
Nice the the US consulate is keeping out of public view, this is a horrid crime and they might think twice before messing up the name of the whole country for a foolish little druggie twit.
Reminds me of when Clinton foolish and publically asked for pardon for the teenager who sprayed the paint in Singapore?..he came back to the US to be arrested for another flagrant breakign of the law
Amanda needs to live for a very very long time and tortured every single day !!

Such morons, I would think that with everyone watching CSI ..they would come up with a credible story, but then thats what happens when you do too much drugs, brain turns to mush
Well the congolese guy has bene released because there wa sno evidence and he had SEVERAL alibi, the only reason he was arrested was because Amanda said he was there...AMANDA muct be guilty otherwise WHY keep lying.
