Senior Christal Morrison goes for one of her 13 kills during last Thursday’s win over No. 7 UCLA. Morrison earned her second-straight Pac-10 Player of the Week award for her performance last week, tallying 30 kills and five service aces during the two matches.

Against the Bruins Morrison recorded a double-double, when she reached double digits in kills and digs for the game. Morrison tied for the team lead with 13 kills, as well as registering 12 digs, four blocks and one ace. Against the Trojans the next night, Morrison had an even better performance, with a match-high 17 kills, 10 digs, five total blocks and four aces. Friday nights double-double was the third-straight against a Top-10 team and eighth of the season.

For the two games against the Los Angeles teams, Morrison recorded 30 kills (5 kills per game), 22 digs (3.67 digs per game), nine total blocks (1.50 blocks per game) and five service aces.

This marks the sixth time in Morrison’s career that she has been awarded this honor. Her freshman year she was named Pac-10 Player of the Week after leading the Huskies to wins on the road over the Arizona schools. As a junior, Morrison received the award three times, as well as being named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Year.

It is also the 23rd time overall that a Husky athlete has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week. Fellow teammate senior Stevie Mussie received the honor earlier this season after she led her team to wins over the Oregon schools.
