USC 91, Oregon State 46
Everyone said next year's USC team would be something to watch, with a verbal commitment from the nation's No. 1 prep player. After a 45-point win on the road against Oregon State Saturday, the Trojans showed they didn't want to wait.
Lodrick Stewart had 20 of his 28 career-high points in the first half, and Taj Gibson added 20 as USC won 91-46 in Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday. Stewart shot 9-of-10 from the field, including a perfect 6-of-6 from 3-point land.
The Trojans (13-4 overall, 3-1 Pac-10) led by 23 at halftime and had a 50-point lead late in the second half.
Angelo Tsagarakis had 10 points to lead the Beavers (8-8 overall, 0-3 Pac-10).
USC shot 66 percent (75 percent from beyond the arc), more than double the percentage of Oregon State's 32. The Trojans also had twice as many rebounds as the Beavers, 36-18.
Tied for the Pac-10 lead, USC will host UCLA Saturday.
Cal 67 ,Stanford 63
Behind Ayinde Ubaka's season-high 26 points, Cal ended its 13-game road losing streak to rival Stanford at Maples Pavilion.
After Lawrence Hill missed a potentially game-tying 3-pointer, Ubaka hit one of two free throws to give Cal a four-point lead, a margin that would remain until the final buzzer as the Golden Bears won 67-63 on Wednesday.
Freshman Ryan Anderson added 12 points and six rebounds for Cal (10-5 overall, 2-1 Pac-10), which overcame a 44-29 Cardinal rebound advantage. It was the Golden Bears' fourth-straight game away from home; they went 2-2 on the road trip.
Robin Lopez led Stanford (9-4 overall, 1-2 Pac-10) with 16 points and nine rebounds. Fred Washington added 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
The Bay Area schools will host the Washington schools this week.
No 16. Oregon 68, No 1. UCLA 66
Two days after the Oregon Ducks lost its first game of the season, they decided to hand the nation's top team its first as well.
Guard Aaron Brooks dribbled the length of the floor and hit a game-winning jumper with 13 seconds left immediately after Darren Collison's 3-pointer tied the game. UCLA's Josh Shipp missed the game-winning shot at the buzzer, securing the Ducks' 68-66 win over the No. 1 Bruins in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday.
Brooks finished with 25 points to lead the Ducks (14-1 overall, 2-1 Pac-10), who had a 10-point lead at halftime. Maarty Leunen added 18 points and seven rebounds for Oregon, which is off to its best start since the 1937-38 season.
UCLA (14-1 overall, 3-1 Pac-10) had beaten the Ducks four times in a row. The Bruins have not started 15-0 in more than 30 years.
The defending Pac-10 champs had four players in double figures and were led by the 14 points of Shipp and Arron Afflalo. Each team split last week's two games; Oregon lost to USC, and UCLA beat Oregon State on Thursday.
Washington State 77, No.7 Arizona 73 (OT)
The magic carpet ride continues for that team from Pullman.
Despite blowing a seven-point lead in the final 32 seconds of regulation, the Cougars (14-2 overall, 3-1 Pac-10) broke Arizona's 12-game winning streak with a 77-73 overtime win on Saturday in Pullman, Wash.
WSU's Daven Harmeling scored a career-high 28 points, hitting seven 3-pointers to lead the Cougars, who entered the nation's top-25 this week. Kyle Weaver had 15 points, and Robbie Cowgill added 13 for the home team.
Ivan Radenovic tied the score at 67 with a 3-pointer with 11 seconds remaining in regulation. After Derrick Low turned the ball over, Mustafa Shakur missed the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Shakur led the Wildcats (12-2 overall, 3-1 Pac-10) with 19 points; Marcus Williams had 18 points. Arizona had won 41 of the past 42 games against WSU. Arizona split its two-game road trip in Washington and will host the Oregon schools this week.
