No. 7 Arizona 89, Stanford 75
Make that 11 in a row.
After losing to Virginia in their season opener, the No. 7 Wildcats have won every game since and extended their longest winning streak in five years to 11.
On Saturday, the Wildcats defeated Stanford 89-75 in Tucson, Ariz., after blowing a 13-point lead in the first half. Arizona (11-1 overall, 2-0 Pac-10) was down by five points midway through the second half, but finished the game on a 19-6 run to end the Cardinals' upset bid.
Forward Marcus Williams scored a game-high 23 points and added eight rebounds. Ivan Radenovic sealed his Pac-10 Player of the Week award with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Stanford (8-3 overall, 1-1 Pac-10) was led by the 20 points of Lawrence Hill. Cardinal freshmen Robin and Brook Lopez combined for 31 points and 16 rebounds.
No. 20 Oregon 76, Oregon State 73
As one of the final-three undefeated teams remaining in the nation and off to its best start in 69 years, there was no way No. 20 Oregon was losing to instate rival Oregon State.
Bryce Taylor had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the high-flying Ducks to a 76-73 win at Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday. It was Oregon's first win at the Gill Coliseum in four seasons.
Maarty Leunen finished with 14 points and Aaron Brooks added 13 for the Ducks (13-0, 1-0 Pac-10), who had won their previous five games by 20 points or more.
It was the 326th meeting between the two teams, with the Beavers holding a 180-146 edge. The home team had won the previous six meetings.
Marcel Jones had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Beavers (8-6 overall, 0-1 Pac-10), as each OSU starter finished in double figures. It was Oregon State's third loss at home to a ranked opponent this season — the previous losses coming against Nevada and LSU.
Washington State 58, USC 55
Two days after taking No. 1 UCLA to the final play, Washington State earned its first Pac-10 win with a 58-55 victory over the Trojans in Los Angeles on Saturday.
With nine seconds remaining, USC's Gabe Pruitt hit a 3-pointer to give the Trojans a 55-54 lead. On the ensuing possession, WSU's Kyle Weaver scored a layup to give the Cougars (12-2 overall, 1-1 Pac-10) a one-point lead. After a Trojan offensive foul, Robbie Cowgill sealed the upset with two free throws in the closing moments.
The loss snapped USC's nine-game home winning streak. With 12 wins, the Cougars have already exceeded last year's win total of 11.
WSU trailed by 11 points early in the second half, but closed the game on a 31-17 run. The Cougars broke an eight-game Pac-10 road losing streak.
Derrick Low led WSU with 13 points; Weaver had 12 points, five rebounds and five assists. Nick Young led the Trojans (11-4 overall, 1-1 Pac-10) with 14 points.
Cal 66, Arizona State 62 (OT)
Ayinde Ubaka scored eight of his team's 11 points in overtime, including two 3-pointers, to lead the Cal Golden Bears to a 66-62 overtime win in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday.
With the Sun Devils (6-7, 0-2 Pac-10) down by three points in the closing seconds of regulation, ASU's freshman guard Christian Polk hit an off-balance 3-pointer to send the game into overtime.
Freshman Ryan Anderson led the Bears (9-5, 1-1 Pac-10) with 18 points and eight rebounds; Ubaka added 14. It was Cal's first win after losing center DeVon Hardin to a stress fracture in his left foot.
Polk and Antwi Atuahene each scored 14 points to lead the Sun Devils, which is currently the only Pac-10 team with a sub-.500 record.
It was the first overtime Pac-10 road win for Cal in almost five years.
