PAC-10 Power Rankings

1. USC as Courtney Thompson

Like the Trojans lost Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, Thompson's Huskies had to cope with the loss of Sonja Tomasevic and Candace Lee. Week after week, however, the Trojans exhibit their dominance and even pick up some Pac-10 records along way.

2. California as Brandon Roy

What can you say about either of them that hasn't been said already? Both can be explosive yet solid. Both get it done when the game is on the line. But the key here is the start. While Roy was held up with academic tape to start his career, the Golden Bears lost an embarrassing one to Tennessee. Since then, it was been all money up until Cal's slip-up at USC and Roy's recent heel injury in the NBA.

3. Oregon State as Isaiah Stanback

Early in the season, like Stanback's early starts as quarterback, the Beavers struggled. As the season as matured, however, Oregon State improved and became a force in the conference. OSU is surely on its way to a bowl game, just as the injured Husky quarterback has his sights on the NFL.

4. Arizona as Nate Robinson

Robinson was a freak of nature. His athletic ability let him do whatever he wanted. While he tore it up on the hardwood — as the Wildcats do every season — he never lived up to his potential on the gridiron, quitting the team to focus on basketball. It seems that Arizona always has that same philosophy.

5. UCLA as Cody Pickett

UCLA is one of the most decorated programs on the West Coast; Pickett set numerous passing records as the Husky gunslinger. Neither have really lived up to expectations, with the Bruins a perennial middle-of-the-pack Pac-10 team, and Pickett holding a clipboard on the Houston Texans' sideline, buried on the depth chart.

6. Oregon as Martell Webster

Both were supposed to come in and make waves, after Oregon upset Oklahoma in non-conference and Webster tore it up in high school at Seattle Prep. But now both are struggling to find their games. The Ducks have lost four in conference play and find themselves behind Oregon State in the standings, while Webster never stepped foot on the Washington campus and can't seem to keep himself in the NBA.

7. Arizona State as Reggie Williams

The Sun Devils started 0-3 in Pac-10 season this year –— a disappointing start. Williams was considered another NFL bust after two unproductive seasons. ASU showed signs of life but has once again faded, like Williams impressed early in the year with many touchdowns but is since gone from the spotlight.

8. Washington as Tim Lincecum

The Huskies used to be one of the top programs in college football while Lincecum won the Golden Spikes Award as college baseball's best pitcher last season. Now, a couple of coaching changes and a move to professional baseball have put both back down at the bottom of the totem pole. But both won't be at the bottom for long, as Lincecum is one of the top prospects in the minors and the Huskies have J.R. Hasty and Jake Locker to help assure them of a successful future.

9. Washington State as Harry the Husky

The Cougars were excited after starting the year 6-3 and a bowl game seemed imminent. Harry pumps up the crowd with reckless enthusiasm, but can be pesky and annoying. Now WSU has lost three in a row and might be watching bowl games at home; in comparison, Harry has to watch rival mascot Butch T. Cougar in the Capital One Mascot Challenge commercials.

10. Stanford as Mike Jensen

Injuries just kept Stanford down all year long, just like they did for much of Jensen's career. But fighting through the adversity of 0-9 and a separated shoulder, both were able to have their moments of glory. The Cardinal got a win against the Huskies two weeks ago, while Jensen poured in six three pointers against Stanford at the end of last season.
