Senior Greyson Gunheim evades a Cougar block, moving to sack WSU quarterback Alex Brink. Gunheim was one of five Huskies to sack Brink, netting 22 yards against the Cougars.

Offensive: Marcel Reece — With 107 yards and a touchdown, Reece was one of the guys to help get the ball moving big time for the Huskies. At the beginning of the second half, his 69-yard touchdown catch and run put Washington up for good. He also added a tough 26-yard reception late in the fourth quarter to extend a drive.

Defensive: Chris Stevens — The sophomore linebacker was quiet as far as tackles went, garnering just two over the course of the game, but it was Stevens who made big plays when the defense needed them. He sacked quarterback Alex Brink on the Cougars' last drive of the game. Earlier, he blocked a punt and then dove on it for a touchdown.

Injury Report

Dashon Goldson and Matt Fountaine were forced out of the game before the half, and did not return. Goldson had back problems, and Fountaine broke his toe. Daniel Teo-Nesheim also left late in the game with cramps and did not return.

Turning Point

With the game tied at halftime, the Huskies had to do something to generate some momentum. That came in the form of a 69-yard hookup between Carl Bonnell and Marcel Reece. On a short pass across the middle, Reece turned upfield and left the Cougars behind, going untouched into the endzone. The score put Washington ahead by a touchdown, and the closest WSU ever came after that was three points.

Game Notes

Chris Stevens' blocked punt and subsequent touchdown was the first time that had been done since Dana Hall did it in 1991.

With the win in the Apple Cup, the Huskies stopped WSU's streak at two games. The Cougars still have never won three in a row against Washington.

Marcel Reece's 69-yard touchdown catch, Louis Rankin's 77-yard touchdown run and Marlon Wood's 87-yard kick return were all the longest such plays of the year for Washington.
